Yes Chargers....Glogging is my new "teach me how to" technology tool for this month. I am so excited about this multimedia presentation tool. I know you will love this new technology. Once you read a book, I will show you how to create a glog about the book. So hurry and read your first book of the school year. Remember, twenty-five books is the goal for every student this year. While you work on reading that book for your first glog, I will be working with all the Language Arts teachers to create their narrative glog. You will be able to check out their work before you create yours.
New books are in!! I was able to purchase books very early this year. The new Harry Poddy parody is in and it is funny. Walter Dean Myers' books are amongst the newest arrivals. Needless to say, I am really excited about the award winning books I have purchased and the brand new playaways. Play Aways are books that are digital (MP3 format). The entire Twilight series is in the media center as a playaway. Digital books are awesome. I have also purchased eBooks. They havent arrived yet, but when then do I will post/blog it for all to see.
My 2011-2012 challenge to all Chargers is to read your 25 books this year. I believe we can do it. I am reading right along with you. I'm only on book two. Soon, there will be a thermometer in the media center to monitor our book count. I think we can exceed the 25 book goal. Go Chargers!!!
This is a weekly blog. Information about the Bunche Media Center will be posted here weekly. Please check back every Monday for news from the media center. This is a work in progress and open for suggestions. Thanks and I look forward to sharing and learning!!

Back in Stride!!!
Well Chargers, things are full speed ahead in the media center! This year I am excited about "e-Books". I am looking forward to expanding how the media center circulates books. Our newest vehicle of book circulation will be e-Books!!! Woohooo!!! The entire "Twilight" series has been order and I will let you know when the books arrive.
Library Media skills are very important at Bunche. I take very seriously my responsibility to prepare middle school students to be proficient users of technology and have them ready for high school research. I have one request for each student at Bunche. Please, please purchase a portable storage device, jump drive or flash drive to store your work. The cost for a portable storage device is $5.00 on the low end and $20.00 on the high end. These items can be found at Target, Staples or Office Depot. This one piece of technology may prove to be invaluable as you progress through middle and high school.
Volunteers are needed!! Please donate some time. If you are available from 9-3, Monday-Friday, I would certainly appreciate your help.
Happy Reading,
Mrs. Walker

Welcome to the Media Center at Bunche Middle School!!
Hey Chargers,
Welcome to the Bunche Media Center blog! This blog is designed to keep you posted on the happenings in the media center. I will update this blog weekly. Look for information about new books, bestsellers, technology tips, and your classmates opinions about books in the media center. I take great pride in developing a collection of books that will interest the readers at Bunche Middle School. I want the media center to be inviting and most of all, stimulate a desire inside of everyone that enters to pick up a book and read. I love it when students bring books back to the media center so excited that they can't hardly wait to read the next book. To this end, the media committee and I have spent the last five years carefully building a collection of books that get our collection more aligned with the overall goals. This isn't an easy task, but every year I am more pleased with the collection and more proud of the media center's appearance. The new titles include award winning titles, graphic novels, classics, mysteries, science fiction, and much more. Please plan a visit to the media center on your own or ask your Language Arts teacher to bring the class.
Speaking of the Language Arts department, all ELA teachers will bring their classes to the media center for orientation. Yes, I will make an earnest effort to personally greet and orientate each student at Bunche before August 31, 2011. Each session will be brief and full of important media information. The schedule will be posted soon. Stay tuned.
This week I will give some ideas on sharing your summer reading. I will begin a new post about my favorite summer book. I encourage you to post your summer read and comment on each other's post. Sound like fun? I hope so. I am sure my avid readers will get a kick out of this. I hope this will inspire others to read more.
Idea #1: Complete a book report to share with others. (see your ELA teacher for a template)
Idea #2: Create a mobile about the characters, setting and main idea of the book.
Idea #3: Post on this blog.(my choice....hint....hint)
I look forward to reading your top pick. I am excited about this school year and I hope you are too!!
See you in the media center,
Mrs. Walker
